Abby and Steve – Pittsburgh

Early in June I made a second trip to the charming Morning Glory Inn, which rests softly in the hard streets of south Pittsburgh. I photographed a wedding here a few years ago and have always remembered the Inn fondly. I was so happy to hear that Abby and Steve had seen the photos I did there and wanted to hire me to shoot there again.

Abby and Steve are amazing people, with so much going for them at such an early age. In the evening I asked them when they would be having kids and they said ‘ohh… we have a while.’ I asked them how old they were because they seem so grown up and learned they were both 23! Steve is currently working on projects with NASA… and Abby is way ahead of her years in stature. I felt really old when they told me how young they were! haha… I thought ‘lets get it together Ben…’

I was able to shoot a roll of film with my Hasselblad and love the look I got. I plan on using it a bunch more during the portrait sessions of upcoming weddings. See if you can tell which photos were taken with it, and which are digital!

Brian & Jennie
Let me start out by saying that this is one of the funniest couples I have shot. I guess Brian has a thing for food and is ALWAYS eating. So, when they were introduced at the reception, instead of going straight to the head table, Brian jumped a server with some appetizers and started chowing down. All the while Jennie is doing her best to keep him focused on the task at hand, making it to his seat. Jennie was in on that one. Later on, during the cake cutting, just as they were about to feed each other the cake, Brian didn't want to wait for Jennie to feed him and ate his own piece... leaving Jennie speechless. She was not in on that! I sho ...

Lauren and Eric – Perrysburg
It was a cold Sunday morning. The thermometer read 28 degrees. But, after factoring in wind chill, snow chill, river chill, and cloudy chill it felt more like -28 degrees. The cold air did not freeze the hearts of all of those at this intimate ceremony and brunch. This was a very low key wedding, held in an amazing apartment living room in downtown Perrysburg. About 20 people came to share the moments with Eric and Lauren. It was a great setting for these two to seal the deal. We were able to slip outside twice for some photos. The ladies were wonderful and did not complain as much as they should have with their shoulders bare and all. Finger ...

Jeremy & Amanda
Jeremy and Amanda have things straight. I could sense from them early on just how important this day was. From the excitement beforehand, to the happiness when seeing each other for the first time, they were pumped. During the ceremony they had a great moment when all of the bridal party gathered around them on the stage and Chris Tomlin's 'Our God' blared through the sound system. It was a great choice, and signified their strong love of God. Jeremy and Amanda are also photographers who shoot weddings, so it was an honor straight from the get-go that they chose me. I will admit it makes it a little more stressful knowing you have some artsy ...
