Ann + Marco

Travelled north to Aurora, Ohio earlier this summer to photograph this RAD couple. Ann and Marco paid a little extra to have me shoot some black and white film, and I am so glad they did. I wish I shot B&W more!!! I absolutely LOVE how the photos turned out. When you see B&W film, you can recognize it immediately. It just pops. The Hasselblad is part to thank for that, with it’s Zeiss lens, which does a great job at making 2D images look 3D.

We started at the Aurora Inn and got some great photos of the guys. The guys were even willing to hop down into the nastiest pool I have ever seen to get a few photos. Not sure if any of them wound up sick a few days later or not. After that, Marco decided it would be a good idea take about 1/8 inch off of his M3’s tires to get a ‘burnout’ shot. Totally worth it 🙂

After the boys were done, I headed to Ann’s parents house, where the wedding and reception was held. The setting was just perfect. A lot of work had been done out back to provide a great space for the reception to take place. The day was also beautiful, albeit a touch on the steamy side. The evening was a lot of fun and everybody had a great time. I am not sure how many people at the party knew that Ann could play the drums, but by the end of the night, we all knew, and knew she was amazing. She played along with the band for a few songs and killed it! The night ended when Ann and Marco took off in a historic Bel Aire under the light of sparklers. Congratulations you two!

Blake & Chelsea – Vermont
Blake and Chelsea are good friends of mine and I was honored to be able to shoot their wedding. The setting was in a charming old town in Vermont where Chelsea grew up. They had their ceremony in a historic theater with lots of character. I wish I had a little more time with them to take advantage of all the town had to offer, but the weather was not cooperative.  All in all it was a great day and I really enjoyed meeting their families. Best to the both of you!

This was my second time photographing a wedding at the Hawk Gallery in downtown Columbus. It is a small gallery that has lots of really nice glass pieces (much of it way overpriced for Ohio)... but its fun to look at. The first time I shot a wedding there I nearly knocked part of an art piece off of the wall while reacting to a photographic opportunity. When I felt my back rub up against it and heard it shift on its wall mount, my heart sunk. Fortunately it did not drop to the ground. If it did... I would run away. Pricetag on that piece was $249,000! I think shipping is free though. Robb and Rachael had the best weather of the summer... it ...
